Where to Start

Contact us to register as a new apprentice.

2. REGISTER

Sign up with the Technical Center most convenient for you. Registration begins in August for Fall classes and December for Spring classes.

3. EARN & LEARN

Attend class, apply what you learn, get the training you need to advance in the Electrical field.

What is an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are paid jobs while gaining skills and training. It is not an internship. “Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway where employers can develop and prepare their future workforce, and individuals can obtain paid work experience, classroom instruction, and a nationally recognized, portable credential.” -www.apprenticeship.gov

How long does it take to become a Journeyman?

Approximately 4 years. The VA department of labor stipulates that an apprentice must have 2,000 on-the-job hours per year; and 144 classroom hours per year.

Will Design Electric cover the cost of the apprenticehip program?

Design Electric will pay 100% of the apprentice's tuition as long as they maintain a grade of 80% or above per semester and do not miss more than 9 classroom hours per class.

What is the schedule?

Semesters run from August - November and then January - May
